Robert Probst received his design education at the Folkwangschule für Gestaltung (University Essen), Germany, and the College of Design, Basel, Switzerland. In 1975 his professional career began in Otl Aicher’s studio for visual communication, Rotis. His practice is based on work for cultural, historical, zoological, medical, educational, and municipal institutions as well as for the private sector. Since 1978 he has been a professor at the University of Cincinnati; College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning; School of Design. His work is featured in numerous publications. He has received many awards from professional organizations and has lectured at institutions and conferences in the United States, England, Germany, and Switzerland. He served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design and as President of its Education Foundation. In 1996 he was honoured with the SEGD Fellow Award. In 2010 he was selected as one of the top twenty-five US educators and administrators by the Design Futures Council. In 2019 he was the recipient of SEGD’s National Educator Award. He has three children with his wife Alison: Jasmine, Alistair, Lyndon.

    Robert Probst received his design education at the Folkwangschule für Gestaltung (University Essen), Germany, and the College of Design, Basel, Switzerland.
