Mike set up Studio Dempsey in 2007 after running the highly successful design consultancy Carroll, Dempsey and Thirkell, which he formed in 1979 following a decade in publishing.

During his career he has won the occasional award, including: the New York Art Director’s Club Silver Cube, the CSD Minerva Award, ten D&AD Silvers, the coveted D&AD Gold award, and a special Black Pencil for most awarded designer in D&AD’s 50-year history.

Mike is a member of Alliance Graphic International, and a past President of D&AD. In 1994 he was made a Royal Designer for Industry and is also a past Master of The Faculty of Royal Designers for Industry.
