Graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan. Was formerly art director of Domus, and in charge of the Milan Triennale’s image; then both editor-in-chief and art director of Abitare. He was involved in national and international projects in graphic design, visual identity, communication, sign systems, museums and exhibition layouts. (Milan Triennale, Palazzo Grassi in Venice and Turin, Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Palazzo della Pilotta in Parma, Palazzo Reale and Arengario in Milan, Grand Hornu in Belgium, the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Tokyo). A recent project is the ‘Look of the City’ design for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin (with Migliore and Servetto). Italo Lupi was an honorary Royal Designer for Industry and honorary member of Milan Art Directors Club, and has received awards and honorable mentions from Milan Art Directors Club, Prague’s Typomundus, the 13th Brno Biennial, the Compasso d’Oro award (1998) and the Pen Club Award (2001) for Editorial Graphic Design.
