Hans Fabigan received his education at the Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt, Vienna. He was not only a leading poster designer before the fifties but also well known on the Viennese marketing scene. In 1927 he moved to Berlin where he gained a reputation as a fashion designer, cartoonist and graphic artist. In 1935 he returned to Vienna, where he became head of the graphic department at the Institut für Werbung. He also taught at the Modeschule and several universities. In 1948 he worked on a new identity for the Austrian government and the city of Vienna, to celebrate the anniversary of the 1848 Revolution.
