Mitch Paone, USA
(2019)
Mitch Paone is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of DIA Studio, an innovation and design agency based in New York City and Chamonix, France. DIA is internationally recognized for pioneering motion-driven and generative identity systems that create flexible brands which adapt across platforms. Paone is known for coining the term “Kinetic Identity,” where motion becomes the organizing principle of a brand system and defines how a brand behaves over time rather than how it appears in a single moment. Clients include Squarespace, Balenciaga, Pinterest, Nike, Saint Laurent, Google, and Apple. He is also Co-Founder of MNKY Type, a Chamonix-based type foundry whose fonts have appeared in work for Peloton, Diesel, and The New York Times Magazine. A former jazz pianist and composer, Paone brings rhythm, improvisation, and temporality to his kinetic approach to design. He was inducted into AGI in 2019.
