Arvanitis studied painting and graphic design between 1966–72. From 1976–85 he was art director for EMI Records Greece and from 1986–90 for Tachidromos magazine. He also designed the magazines Jazz, Periodiko, Minima, Diphono, Adobe Magazine, Ntefi, Jazz & Tzaz and Kaleidoscopio. He is amazingly productive, designing book covers, posters, records sleeves, logos and typography. He is a member of the Cannibal Fonts company and has his own studio, Espresso Studio. Arvanitis is one of the few Greek graphic designers who are active on an international level. He writes many articles on design for magazines and newspapers, and has participated in many poster festivals around Europe.
