Ryoji Tanaka was born in Mie in 1975. He graduated from Doshisha University(the Faculty of Engineering) and International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS). In 2003, he founded Semitransparent Design.

Ryoji is engaged in a wide range of activities beyond the confines of digital media, including the planning and production of websites, graphic design, and installations at museums and galleries both in Japan and abroad.
Recently, he has also made significant contributions to Japanese graphic design, serving as a board member of Tokyo TDC and a professor at Musashino Art University.
