Alain Le Quernec wrote: ‘Morteza was the first Iranian AGI member. It is difficult to find a single man who had such a great influence on the creation and development of modern graphic design in his home country. Morteza studied at the Paris Decorative Arts School (1968). He had a particular interest in Swiss design, for its perfectionism, and the Polish poster school, for its innovative nature and ability to break the rules. Back in Iran, he developed these influences to create his own form of expression, Iranian culture already being rich in its illustrative traditions and calligraphy. He introduced modern graphic design, without losing the identity of his culture. The second face of this man was the challenge of getting graphic design recognized and taught at universities. Morteza was a leader who brought together the talents of other designers and established the Iranian Graphic Designers Society, which is one of the strongest and best organizations of its kind worldwide[...]’
