Read full biographyKaoru Kasai graduated from Muroran senior high school, Sakae, Hokkaido, and worked for Bunka Printing Co. and Ohtani Design Laboratory. In 1973, he began working for the Sun-Ad agency. Kasai served as art director of advertising at Sun-Ad for many years, and currently serves as the company’s vice-president. He has designed campaigns for Suntory Oolong Tea and for United Arrows clothing lines. He has also worked on promotional material for movies, plays, corporate identities, signs, spatial planning, and book covers. He has received several awards for his work including the Asahi Advertising Award, the Tokyo ADC Award, the Mainichi Design Award, and a book design cultural award from Kodansha Ltd. In 1984, he held a personal exhibition entitled ‘Kaoru Kasai & Sony’ at the GGG gallery, Tokyo. His work has also been published in World Graphic Design 35: Kaoru Kasai. Currently, Kasai is a guest professor for the Tama Art University and the Kyoto University of Art & Design.
