Abbott J. Miller studied graphic design at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York, graduating in 1985. He began his career as a designer with Richard Saul Wurman before establishing the studio Design/Writing/Research with Ellen Lupton in 1989. Since 1999 Abbott has been a partner in the New York office of Pentagram, where he has created identities, books, magazines and exhibitions for clients that have included Harley-Davidson, Knoll, Vitra, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. He is editor and art director of the visual and performing arts magazine 2wice and the creative director of Steuben Glass. He has designed numerous books, magazines and exhibitions, and is co-author with Ellen Lupton of Swarm (2005), Design Writing Research (1996) and The Bathroom, the Kitchen, and the Aesthetics of Waste (1992). In 1994 he was a recipient, with Ellen Lupton, of the first annual Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design.

    Abbott J. Miller studied graphic design at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York, graduating in 1985. He began his career as a designer with Richard Saul Wurman before establishing the studio Design/Writing/Research with Ellen Lupton in 1989.
