In 1964 he completed his studies in Kassel, Germany and became art director at Süddeutsche Rundfunk, a south German TV station in Stuttgart, where he worked in the area of fi lm, animation and video. There he completed over 40 trailers and logos for various films and TV productions. During this time he began designing posters for the theatre, as well as books, record covers and exhibitions. Grindler became professor of communications design at FH-Würzburg in 1979. He has received numerous prizes and distinctions including the Grand Prix at the Graphic Design Biennale in Lahti, the gold medal at the Warsaw Biennale in 1981, and the merit award, The 100 Best Posters, Berlin, 2001. His work has been included in exhibitions all over the world (Poland, Finland, the US, Czech Republic, France, Germany).
