He studied fine arts at the Circle Studio from the age of eleven, and went into design studios and advertising before emigrating to Australia in 1966. In 1976, he started his own studio in Melbourne, working on packaging, corporate identity programmes and publication design. He had a lifechanging experience when he began working with indigenous Australians on visitor centres and museums in 1993, interpreting one of the oldest cultures on earth. He is a past president of the Melbourne ADC, has judged on many awards committees (in Melbourne and nationally), was a member of the Advisory Committee at RMIT Photography Department, the Stamp Advisory Board of Australia Post and RMIT Graphic Design, and was the Victorian President of the Australian Graphic Design Association 1992–93. He was admitted into the Victorian Government Design Hall of Fame in 1999. He gave masterclasses at the design conference Everything In Between and Swinburne National Centre for Design.
