    Michael Baviera, Switzerland (1998)

    Baviera studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Zürich. In 1965, he ventured into the realm of freelance work alongside Josef Müller-Brockmann. 1967 marked the founding of the publishing house Um die Ecke, with his eldest brother Silvio R. Baviera. Heestablished the Atelier for Corporate Design in Zürich in 1968. By 1975, he was co-founder of Wohnflex Inneneinrichtung and took on the presidency of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Schweizer Graphiker. Simultaneously, he served as a judge in numerous national and international competitions, while contributing as an employee of the magazine idee...à jour.
    In 1978, Baviera showcased his literary skills by authoring and publishing a monograph on Hannes Gruber. Recognizing his artistic prowess, the Swiss canton of Zürich awarded him art scholarships from 1979 to 1981. In 1981, he co-founded the Atelier BBV in Zürich, Lyons, and Milan.
    By 1987, he was being appointed professor by the Institut für Kommunikationsdesign at Fachhochschule Konstanz. A year later, he authored and published the Monatsbuch Gruber/Baviera. The culmination of his journey led to the completion of a new atelier in Barbaresco by 1990. Michael Baviera died in June 2014.
