David’s clients have included Adidas, Adobe, The Criterion Collection, Gatorade, Johns Hopkins University, The Maryland Institute College of Art, Motorola, MTV Networks, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Nike, Patton Oswalt, Steppenwolf Theatre, Sony, Baltimore Theatre Project, They Might be Giants, and The United States Postal Service.
His work has been included in American Illustration, Communication Arts, Graphis, Print, the New York Type Director’s Club, and The Society of Publication Design. He has been awarded numerous silver and gold medals from The Society of Illustrators in New York. In 2009 his poster for The Dungeon Masters was awarded “Best Poster” at the South by Southwest Festival. His August 28th, 2017 cover of The New Yorker titled “Blowhard” received national media coverage and was named Magazine Cover of The Year by The American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME). In 2011 he was inducted into the Alliance Graphique Internationale.
In 1995 he co-founded Spur Design in Baltimore Maryland USA with graphic designer Joyce Hesselberth.
