    Henry Wolf, USA (1966)

    Henry studied in France and, after emigrating to New York (1941), he took courses in design and photography with the famous Alexey Brodovitch. He received further education at the NY School of Industrial Art. After starting in an advertising agency, he soon became an art director for the US State Department. He was appointed art director of Esquire magazine, changing the format, using bold photography and a lot of white space. He went on to succeed his teacher Brodovitch at Harper’s Bazaar. In 1971 he founded Henry Wolf Productions Inc. Henry was an outstanding photographer and designed fi lm titles. The Manhattan department store Bloomingdales was one of his favourite clients. He taught in New York for almost 50 years: at Cooper Union, the School of Visual Arts and the Parson School of Design. He was recipient of the AIGA gold medal (1976) and inducted in the NY ADC Hall of fame. He became a Royal Designer for Industry in 1990.
