Read full biography1962–66: Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, graphic design and Communication (final exam cum laude; Esso Award). 1969–72: further graduate study at the Royal College of Art, London, department of graphic design and communication. Lecturer at the Middlesex Polytechnic, London, teaching instructional graphics. 1973: returns to the Netherlands and works with designers Gratama and De Vries, The Hague. 1976–82: creative director in the design department of the Dutch Government Printing and Publishing House. 1974–90: part-time teaching at the Royal Academy of Art in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. 1982–2002: creative director of the Total Identity Group in Amsterdam, formerly Total Design. His experience as a project director and design manager extends to large-scale design projects in the Netherlands, France, the Middle East and Hong Kong. In 2002 he founded his own consultancy QuinX Design Management and Consultancy. Jelle van der Toorn Vrijthoff has been the International President of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) from 2006 until 2009.
