    Dirk Koy, Switzerland (2024)

Dirk Koy is filmmaker and artist. In his studio, “Dirk Koy Bild und Bewegung,” founded in 2016, he creates projects in a range between moving graphics and experimental film. Some commissioned works include collaborations with electronic music pioneers Yello, Nick Knight’s Showstudio, Balenciaga, Mercedes-Benz, Fila and the Swiss National Television. His work is situated at the junction between graphic design, photography and videography. His approach is anchored in the mix of analogue and digital media. His recent work proposes to experience the transition between the real and the virtual world and asks for a critical approach to the relationship between the natural and the artificial. The plurality of analogue media and digital technologies employed by Koy in the realization of his works, as well as the manipulation of the various parameters of operating software, attest to his interest in experimentation. In his works representing distortions of the real world through these different digital processes, he gives a singular view of everyday life and a critical perspective of how digital media channels distort our perception.
