REAL-Real City

Kim Eojin

This exhibition examines architecture for urban ecology. As an organic movement generated through life itself, urban architecture encompasses vanishing boundaries and questions the essential role of architecture.

    Kim Eojin, South Korea (2023)

I am a graphic designer and co-owner of the Seoul-based design studio Everyday Practice. While I love the traditional design process, my own working process can often be iconoclastic. This is not to rebel against the status quo, but rather to satisfy my ongoing curiosity about the solidity of tradition. When I break down different aspects of tradition, I create new formalities by setting modest rules in the gaps I find. As such, my work doesn’t make a lot of noise, but it is scattered with small, thought-provoking fragments of order here and there. This reflects my habit of casting new perspectives on all aspects of life, and my belief in the power of design to contribute to human life in some way.
