    Uwe studied graphic design at the Peter Behrens Academy Düsseldorf, 1964–68. His work is represented in important museum collections such as the NY MoMA; Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris; Museum für Gestaltung Zürich; German Poster Museum in the Museum Folkwang, Essen. His minimalistic poster design has featured in more than 30 solo exhibitions. Venues include: The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, 1994; DDD Gallery Osaka, 1994; Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg, 1997; Galerie Anatome, Paris, 2000; ggg gallery, Tokyo, 2002; Kunsthalle Weimar, 2004; China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, 2006; Museum Folkwang, Essen, 2010; National Museum Poznan, Poland, 2016. Awards include: Grand Prix, International Poster Biennial, Lahti, 1983 and 2001; Grand Prix, Red Dot Award for communication design, Essen, 1995; gold medal, Biennale Brno, 1996; silver medal, Chaumont Poster Festival, 1996; two bronze medals, Toyama Triennial, 1997; Gutenberg Prize of the City of Leipzig, Germany (Lifetime Award), 2009; Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany, Berlin (Lifetime Award). 1990-2008 professor for communication design at the University of Wuppertal. He is pastpresident of AGI Germany.
