Punk Exhibition at Macba

Marc Català

Macba's Punk exhibition traced the echoes of punk attitude in contemporary art. The campaign and design of the exhibition had to somehow seduce the public to come and see the exhibition while keeping the punk spirit in its making, also according to constraints in economical resources. Thus the exhibition design was completely diy, based on the mass production of masking tape and giant stickers.

    Marc Català, Spain (2016)

Marc Català worked at Grafica and Pentagram before founding Mucho with fellow AGI member Pablo Juncadella. During the first three years of Mucho, he combined running the studio with being the joint creative director of The Observer (UK). Today Mucho incorporates the original independent studio mentality with a global approach to design, having become one of the most influential figures in the Barcelona design scene. On top of the regular design practice, Mucho is developing Why Design, a blog and a series of talks, and also a masters degree at IDEP design school called PostGrafica, all of which are structured around the idea that design and visual language can generate meaning and modulate thought. Català is developing a research project on the matter called Visual Thinking.
