    Studied design and graphic communication in Amsterdam under architect Gerrit Rietveld. From 1956 he worked in Milan, collaborating with Pirelli Tyre Corporation; he became Pirelli’s art director 1961–62. In 1963 he started working with Albini to design the interiors and signage system for the Milan Metro, followed by the signage system for New York City Transit Authority (1970) and the São Paolo Metro. Co-founder of Unimark International (1965), with offices in Chicago, New York, Milan and London, focusing on corporate identity design. Worked for oil companies Agip and Total, Dreher Beer, Stella Artois, and Truman Beer. He founded Noorda Design in 1985. Has designed over 150 trademarks, many for public companies: AEM, Amsa, the crest of the Regional Government of Lombardy, corporate identity for Enel (National Electricity), and more. Noorda has won 4 Compasso d’Oro awards, and several prizes for typography and packaging. Member (1961) of ADI; is an honorary member since 2001.
