After starting his own practice in Paris as a freelancer, Rik meets José Albergaria and founds together with him Change is good in 2003.
Bas Backer developed the graphic identity of fashion brand A.P.C. creating a strong combination of minimalism and experimentation. With José Albergaria he re-created the playful graphic identity of Belgian beer brand Vedett.

Presently Bas Backer is designing books, identity projects, way finding systems, posters, record covers, websites, giving lectures and organising workshops. Clients include Cahiers du Cinéma, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Magnum photo, Phaidon, Centre Pompidou, Cartier, Nouveau théâtre de Montreuil, Picasso museum Malaga, Palais de Tokyo.
