    Franco Balan, Italy (1997)

    Balan has worked on visual communi cation since the mid-1950s, uniting artistic experience with visual expression. He produces posters, ‘combined images’ and pictorial and graphic research projects as well as working on the development and debate of innovative graphic art. Memberships: ADI, (hon.) AIAP, Academy of St Anselm. He presented the Visual Communication exhibitions at La Salla, Aosta, 1984–94. He has always been involved in education, from primary schools up to (international) academic level. Balan has had numerous exhibitions, in Cogne, Parma, Rome, at the Milan Triennale, Barcelona, and Lecco. He has received many international awards, and specialist magazines from many countries have featured his works. He creates concrete-framed windows and blocks in churches, sports complexes, etc. In 1997 he set up a studio for traditional graphics and multimedia innovations, together with his son Joel.
