António Silveira Gomes

A self-published reader, about Paulo de Cantos (1892-1979), a Portuguese modernist, polimath, publisher, artist, book designer and schoolmaster. Containing texts and an inventory of his estate, this book contains a 12 page signature printed with a selection of zinc plates originally used in his books from 1929-1942.

    Born in 1971, Mbombela (Nelspruit), South Africa. Studied Graphic Design (1990-92) in Johannesburg. Finished studying in Lisbon, Portugal (1997) and co-founded the studio Barbara says…
    António has a PHD in Contemporary Arts Studies, currently he is assistant lecturer at the Coimbra University, and guest lecturing at other Portuguese design courses in Lisbon. The studio, works closely with theatres, museums, galleries, artists and social innovators. Antonio´s work has been widely published and presented in various exhibitions and competitions.
    Through his professional work, in parallel with academic investigation, he has worked in order to develop reflection concerning Design practice, History and Theory.
