    Hans-Ulrich Allemann, Switzerland (1998)

    Hans, born 1944 in Switzerland, studied at the School of Design Basel, with Armin Hofmann and Emil Ruder. He began his professional career in Zürich in 1965, working as a designer for Halpern, advertising agency. From 1967 to 1969 he taught and helped to develop a new educational program in Graphic Design at the Kansas City Art Institute. In 1970 he returned to Zürich to work for Studio Miedinger and later again with the Halpern agency. In 1973 he was offered a teaching professorship at the Philadelphia College of Art. Throughout the 70s he also conducted his own design consultancy in Philadelphia. In the mid eighties, together with his partners, he founded the design consultancy of Allemann Almquist & Jones. Hans' and the firm’s work has been recognized by professional organizations and publications worldwide. His poster work is in libraries and museum collections in the U.S. and abroad.
