    Anthon Beeke, Netherlands (1979)

    Anthon Beeke had no formal training. He educated himself and learned graphic design while working as an assistant to Ed Callahan, Jacques Richez and Jan van Toorn. He started up as an independent designer in 1963. In 1976 he became a partner in the well-known group Total Design in Amsterdam. In 1989 he set up his own design agency, Studio Anthon Beeke. Beeke’s clients come from both the cultural and the commercial sectors. Beeke produces two trend-forecasting magazines on colour and horticulture together with Lidewij Edelkoort: View on Colour and Bloom. He has several publications to his name, among them Nude Alphabet and Dutch Posters 1960–1996. He has devised exhibitions, furnished museums, designed books, magazines, house styles, logos, postage stamps, catalogues, TV commercials, packaging, children’s games, ad campaigns and posters. He has been a member of many juries and had many exhibitions. He is chief lecturer of the ‘Man and Humanity’ course at the Design Academy in Eindhoven.
