    Bruno K. Wiese, Germany (1974)

Wiese studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für bildende Künste in Berlin under O.H.W. Hadank (1945–49). After graduation he worked as an assistant in Hadank’s studio before establishing his own studio (1954) with his wife Ruth in Hamburg. They did a lot of packaging design for the German tobacco industry. He designed almost 40 stamps for the German Bundespost, and two for the United Nations: ‘Combat Racism’ (1971) and one for UN Peacekeeping Operations (1980). Wiese has been awarded many prizes: for packaging for Henkell Sekt in 1970; for a logo for the German Aerospace Centre in 1975; for the Kieler Woche sailing festival in 1971 and 1977; a first prize in the Industrial Design Society of America Award Competition in 1983. In 1987 he was awarded the Arts and Crafts Prize from the City of Hamburg. Bruno has been a member of the jury for the Kieler Woche for many years. Along with his colleague Fritz Seitz, Wiese was responsible for the event’s visual presentation.
