    In 1958, Young-Jae Cho graduated from Seoul National University Department of Applied Arts. In his late 20s, he taught at the same university for 36 years. As a first-generation designer who has been active since the 1960s, which was the dawn of Korean design, he actively led both in academia and in the field. Especially, his numerous corporate identity works have been recorded as pioneering accomplishments of the birth of modern Korean design. He was chairman of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Design Committee and Visual Information Design Association of Korea. He was dean of Seoul National University College of Fine Arts and founded and operated CDR, a design consultancy. After retiring from Seoul National University Department of Design, he served as director of the Graduate School of Design at Dongseo University. In 2012, he was dedicated to the Designers’ Hall of Fame.
