    Aage Sikker Hansen, Denmark (1952)

Together with Ib Andersen and Arne Ungermann, Hansen was one of the top designers and illustrators in Denmark. He transformed sketches done from his parents’ windows into lithos. With his typical Scandinavian style (‘echoes of Munch’) he became involved in the Danish newspaper Politiken and its colour magazine. He was also a prominent poster artist, working on environmental topics like road safety, health and energy. He demonstrated how artistic quality could be attained in official messages to the general public in the first half of the 20th century. He became an example and inspiration to many contemporary and later colleagues. Nowadays his work is popular at poster galleries and auctions. Hansen also designed several book covers and his work can be found in the Danish Museum of Art and Design and the Denmark Mediemuseum.
