Cave Temples of Dunhuang - Digital Immersive Experience

Garson Yu

yU+co created the digital immersive experience for the “Cave Temples of Dunhuang" exhibition at the Getty Center. First, a large panoramic wall projection transports visitors to the Gobi Desert to take in the Dunhuang setting. Then, the immersive room features a spherical 3D stereoscopic projection of Mogao's Cave 45 allowing the sculptures and wall paintings to be seen up close and in vivid detail. This is the first time the technology has ever been used for a museum exhibition.
