    Rick studied architecture and visual communication at Ohio State University. He started his professional career in Chicago. He worked as project director with John Massey at the Centre for Advanced Research in Design, a part of the Container Corporation of America. He then worked for three years as vice-president of the RVI Corporation with Robert Vogele. He founded his own studio RED (Rick Eiber Design) in 1981, first in Seattle, later in Fall City, Washington. He worked for Boeing, the Henri Art Gallery, Seattle Symphony and numerous regional businesses. His work was internationally recognized and published in many reviews and awarded from many societies. He wrote articles in Industrial Design, Print and Communication Arts, and was the author of World Trademarks: 100 Years. His motto was: ‘We create solutions in response to problems. The more specific the definition of the problem, the more directed the efforts at solving it. Constraints are not your enemy, but your friend.’
