David is President of IADT, the largest Art, Design & Film school in Ireland. Recognised as Ireland's campus for the creative industries, IADT is home to the National Film School and a pillar institution in FilmEU, the European University for Screen Arts and Media.

Previously, he was Head of the Faculty of Film, Art & Creative Technologies at IADT and Senior Lecturer and Programme Chair of the BA(Hons) Visual Communications at IADT.

David is the founder and principal of Atelier Projects, one of the most awarded and critically acclaimed design studios in Ireland.

David graduated from Dun Laoghaire College of Art & Design in 1993. In 1998, he completed his graduate studies at L’Atelier National de Recherche Typographique in Paris, where he studied under Jean Widmer. Upon graduating he worked freelance in Paris (with Integral: Ruedi Baur et Associés), before moving to the Netherlands to work with UNA (Amsterdam) Designers. He returned to Dublin and established his Atelier in 2000.

In 2012, he founded the 100Archive for Irish design—www.100archive.com. He was a member of the AGI Executive with responsibility for Education (2012–2016) and International Secretary (2016–2019).
