Picart le Doux studied art in Paris. Cassandre had a great influence on him, as well as on Raymond Savignac and Jacques Garamond. He made a series of posters, mainly landscapes, for the French Tourist Office. A friendship with Renoir led him from academic art to impressionism. Later on he started to produce tapestries and textile hangings for embassies, museums and public buildings. After WW1, he was commissioned to paint murals on the ocean liner Normandy. Picart illustrated the literary works of Paul Verlaine, Colette and Charles Baudelaire. Throughout his life he had many exhibitions. His work can be found in the collections of many museums like the Musée de Petit Palais, Musée Nationale d‘Art Moderne and in the museums of Bagnol, Le Havre and Nice as well as in the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow. In 1950 he was awarded the Legion d’Honneur.
