The Klingspor Museum Offenbach, Germany
July 19 to September 9, 2013
Opening on Friday, July 19 at 7 pm.

The Klingspor Museum Offenbach, Germany, will offer a fine arrangement of graphic design of two members of the A.G.I. proving international relationship and exchange of a special kind: Takashi Kono and Max Huber. Also on exhibit will be the work of Aoi Huber Kono to link both the men and their work. Aoi, daughter of Takashi, married Max Huber and was living together with him near Chiasso, where she helped to found the m.a.x. museo. She proves to be a remarkable designer and artist herself especially in the field of illustrating books, mainly for children. The exhibition includes examples of the work of all three artists, a combination exhibited for the first time.

Takashi Kono (1906-1999) and Max Huber (1919-1992) are known as most fruitful contributors to the graphic design of their time. The lyrical and very much introverted language of Takashi Kono appears quite different compared to Max Huber and his straight forward, dynamic attitude, due to the influence of the characteristics of Suisse design in the beginning of the 20th century. His close friendship to Max Bill is only one point to indicate his sources which he developed to his very own of expression.

Venue: 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT

The exhibition "Design Ah!” based on the theme "Design Mind," is directed by Taku Satoh, general director of NHK educational channel "Design Ah!"  along with Yugo Nakamura and Keigo Oyamada also involved in the program. Along with clairvoyance and creativity, the physical ability to unconsciously determine the adequacy of the things around us is an integral element for carrying on with our daily lives. Here, we call the capabilities honed by these two aspects as the "Design Mind."
The exhibition introduces many ideas for fostering a Design Mind through works that visitors can experience with their entire body by using audio and footage.
