The Madeira Connection

Cordula Alessandri

Port fans just love Madeira. And the best Madeira on the island is called Barbeito. The fat little red man on each bottle embodies the portuguese idea of the kind of Brits that just like to lord it over the islanders. Whatever. Without the English there would be no Madeira, so arguably he deserves his spot on the label. Alessandri took the caricature for what it is, left the portly Englishman on the label and let him continue to have his fun in the brand design.
