    Peter Andermatt, Switzerland (1971)

Peter studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zürich, graduating with honours. He became a head designer at Studio Müller-Brockmann and was for seven years a partner in MB&Co, Zürich. Peter taught for 19 years at the Art and Design School in Berne. In 1989 he was appointed a professor and director at the Institute for Communication Design in Konstanz, Germany. From 1975 he had his own studio in Zürich. As a young man he dreamed of becoming a farmer, but a severe accident kept him in hospital for several years and during that time he discovered his creative destination and passion. He became the youngest AGI member at the age of 33. He was dedicated to ‘letting something good grow out of everything you do’. In his obituary, his friend Harri Ihring quoted the words of another friend: ‘Andy burned the candle of his life at both ends.’ Andermatt made posters, illustrated magazines, designed a chess game for Alusuisse. And painted and drew. And drew and painted. And cared.
